Yes We Can!

Stay with me here, I'm procrastinating tackling all those weeds that have sprung up in the garden courtesy of the constant rain.

I bought two more little boxes at the flea market last Saturday. Two more boxes I had no use for what so ever.

But two for $5.00? Mine.

Once I got them home I though what cute planter boxes they would make if I had both GG and her drill handy.

But I don't.

Then I thought, how frigging hard can it be to drill some holes in the bottom of a box?

So I borrowed my neighbor's drill.

Easy peasy.

Last night after work I planted them with a petunia or two and a brown coleus I had grabbed at Home Depot.

I'm no plant snob. I'll buy them anywhere. Garden center, farmers market, supermarket, hardware store. Just give me the goods.

And the goods I got.

Very empowering one's first power tool experience.

Next up, clean and stain the deck?

Who can know.

The world's my oyster!

  1. Marisa and I recently jumped my car: a first for us both. No guys or experienced person around. Each of us with a bit of visual experience contributed to our success. I think, however, that changing a tire might still be the job of AAA!

    Your boxes are adorable.

    1. Sorry! My deck is half covered with grape vines. Guess I only have to do half the work.

  4. You go, girl. You'll be erecting fences, installing tile and replacing your screen doors in no time.

    1. If Long Fence doesn't get here soon I WILL be erecting my own fence!

I was scheduled for last Friday but of course it rained all day.

      Maybe tomorrow...weather permitting,

  5. Next time you're at Home Depot (or Walmart or Target) buy a drill. They're the handiest things and every woman needs her own. Also get a slot and Phillips driver bits and now it's an electric screwdriver! I sometimes use the bottom of mine as a hammer when I'm desperate but don't tell a man that. He'll cry.

  6. It looks like you are on your way to being a power tool mama!! Do what Leslie said and buy yourself a drill. Now is a great time, BTW, with Father's Day coming up. My favorite is the Dewalt 18 volt cordless. Lightweight and SO easy to use.

  7. Oooh, love those boxes! I loved them empty - and I love them now you've pretty-planted them! As others have said - 'Get a drill, gal"! x

  8. Hey, Girl, Mitchell is out of town, so I am putting the second coat of deck sealer on today. It's just like painting, only easier because they recommend you use a pad with a long handle, so it's really more like cleaning the kitchen floor. (actually, I don't do that, so maybe cleaning the kitchen floor is like sealing the deck. Do not, NOT, tell Mitchell that!)

Every girl needs a toolbox. Leslie is right. I would get a re-chargeable drill even tho they are more expensive. No pesky cord to worry about. And, i won't cry if you employ it for "alternative usage", but i would add a claw hammer to the list.

It's like when you quit smoking and joined the gym. You are remaking yourself ... it's just the next step. xoxo

  10. If you don't have a toolbox you need to purchase one. I'd buy the cordless drill separately. I bought a cordless drill to put up curtain rods. They come in handy.

Love the flower boxes--one can never have too many :)

  12. Wow, I'm impressed! I have yet to be brave enough to tackle the power tool, I threaten to do it but chicken out every time. You are an inspiration and I just may have to give it a whirl.

The boxes look great. No plant snobbery here either, if I see them and like them..in the cart they go.

  18. Which flea market did you go to and what are its hours? I've heard of "The Big Flea" but I haven't made it there, which might be a good thing for my pocket book.

I don't like the noise of power tools, heck I just don't like loud noises, but I bought a power drill and used it even before I got a guy with tools ;-) Yay for the over 50 club.
